“What is a Casa Particular”?

Casa is the spanish word for house or home.  A"casa particular"/Hostal/Villa is like a bed and breakfast in a private cuban home. Private citizens are permitted to rent out rooms to tourists provided they meet government standards and pay taxes. They can offer lodging and meals. Usually meals at the casa are the best meals around.

The "casa particular" offers an economical way to experience Cuba while allowing visitors to meet and make contact with the Cuban people in their own environment.  The accommodations are government inspected, clean, comfortable and usually with private bathroom. There are 1000's of Casa particulars available in Cuba.

You may not find all the luxuries that come with the resort life but the warmth and hospitality of the Cuban people will make for an unforgettable visit. Casa owners make you feel at home and provide a very safe and secure environment. Cubans seem very proud of their country and genuinely pleased to have you visit and enjoy what they and their country have to offer.

The best way to contact a casa is by phone and some casa owners have access to sms messaging and email. It is very  important to notify the casa owner if you decide to cancel your reservation.  They depend on you being responsible as most casa owners do not take deposits.
